According to a new rumor, the blockbuster Nintendo Switch exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could be getting an upgrade for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Breath of the Wild was released as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch in March 2017, earning rave reviews for its immersive open-world gameplay and helping Nintendo’s latest console become one of the highest-selling video game systems of all time. Nearly eight years later, Nintendo fans are once again looking to the horizon as the company prepares to launch its next mainline console, which is tentatively named the Nintendo Switch 2. While Nintendo has yet to show the Switch 2 officially, there have been numerous rumors and alleged leaks surrounding the system’s design, hardware specifications, and possible launch titles. Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 will be backward compatible with the original Switch’s library, but there are still rumors that older games will be getting a next-gen update when the new hardware drops.
