In a statement to Japanese news outlet CNET published on January 10, Nintendo distanced itself from US-based tech manufacturer Genki and its actions at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. During the event, Genki showcased a mockup of the Nintendo Switch’s successor and revealed unannounced features, such as a mysterious new C button and an optical sensor. However, Nintendo told CNET that “the gaming hardware that Genki presented as Nintendo hardware at CES is unofficial and was not provided to the company by us.” Furthermore, Nintendo also told Japan’s Sankei Shimbun that recently unveiled images and videos related to the Nintendo Switch successor “are not official.”
