Both PlayStation and Xbox currently have digital-only consoles on the market, further suggesting that within the next generation or two, physical games might have largely become a thing of the past. Something that might make PlayStation delay that inevitability is how well its detachable disc drive has been selling. It's back in stock yet again on Amazon, but this time, it appears to be staying that way. The PS5's detachable disc drive was originally released as an added extra for the digital-only slimmer version of the console released in 2023. However, it wasn't until PlayStation confirmed that the PS5 Pro would only be available as a digital console that the disc drive started to become hugely popular. It has sold out everywhere it's been restocked almost immediately since the Pro's reveal, but this latest restock is the first indicator that supply might finally be meeting demand.
